Male’ Maldives, 8th August 2022 – The annual IMTM Travel and Trade Fair, IMTM 2022, is set to take place on the 7th and 8th of September this year. With this year marking its return for a fifth edition, IMTM strives to outdo its performance in the past years and highlights the opportunity it brings for the Maldives.

IMTM unites all leading tourism industry members from across the globe at one of the top travel destinations in the world. As such, IMTM invites all foreign tour operators and travel agents (International Buyers), all local tour operators, travel agents, resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards and homestays (Trade Visitors) and all tourism industry stakeholders to partake in this year’s fair. With the event taking place next month, this is the last chance for all interested parties to register.

IMTM 2022 Registration

Despite being a one-of-a-kind event in the Maldives, many local businesses fail to truly grasp the opportunities it offers them. IMTM provides them with a cost-effective platform here in the Maldives where they can interact actively with existing clients, meet new companies and close deals with new customers, all the while boosting their businesses.

IMTM is conducted with an actively productive and efficient fair concept in mind, such that scheduled meetings between International Buyers and Trade Visitors take place throughout the event. This is the main focus of the fair. Participants are welcome to pre-schedule meetings with parties of their choice and IMTM also steps in to book the remaining slots for parties so that everyone makes the most of their time and engages in business conversations.

As highlighted by The Honourable Dr. Mausoom, Minister of Touris of the Maldives, during IMTM 2021’s opening ceremony last year, “the networking created through this exhibition is very important for us to compete in the global tourism arena.” As the world has seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, we must learn to adapt and we must branch out to explore new markets. Travel and trade fairs such as IMTM are brilliant opportunities to do so as it invites foreign companies to visit the Maldives and explore what it has to offer for themselves. It is a step to building a community here where our international buyers can connect and communicate freely with the local businesses.

These connections will, in turn, grow into long-term business relationships, and this fair provides equal opportunities and choices to all the participants regarding who they wish to conduct business and meet with. As we have observed over the years, there is a lack of major collective representation from the Maldives at international travel and trade fairs abroad. Understanding the high costs of participation contributes to this, IMTM has launched such an event in the Maldives, bringing the fair to our local businesses, allowing them easier access and the chance to take greater opportunities.
