Male’, Maldives, 02 August 2024 – The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) is set to launch a new campaign with TVer, one of Japan’s most popular TV platforms, to promote the Maldives as a premier travel destination. The campaign will run from August 1st to 29th, 2024.
TVer, an ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) network established in October 2015 by Tokyo’s five main commercial broadcasters, has emerged as a leading platform in next-generation television technology. Through this campaign, the Maldives will be featured in video advertisements that will appear before and during TV programs, highlighting the destination’s luxury, romantic, underwater, and family-friendly experiences.
This initiative is part of Visit Maldives’ broader efforts to target the Japanese market, which has included social media campaigns on Visit Maldives Japan accounts, a media familiarization trip focusing on wellness and luxury, and webinars in collaboration with Malaysian Airlines to explore new routes connecting Japan to the Maldives. Additionally, an informative webinar was organized for agents of the Japan Outbound Tourism Council (JOTC).
As of May 2024, Japan ranks 15th in terms of tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with 13,517 visitors, accounting for a 1.5% market share. Visit Maldives is continually implementing marketing strategies to further enhance the destination’s appeal in Japan. Upcoming initiatives include joint promotions with top tour operators, digital campaigns, and participation in the Tourism Expo Japan 2024, organized by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association, Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
Visit Maldives is dedicated to showcasing the Maldives’ unparalleled beauty and unique experiences, including its stunning underwater villas, diverse culinary offerings, vibrant marine life, and rich traditions and culture. Through these promotional campaigns and collaborations, Visit Maldives aims to attract travelers from around the world, enhancing the Maldives’ reputation as a top travel destination and inviting holidaymakers to explore this tropical paradise.
