On Sunday (20th September 2020), High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, H.E. Rear Admiral Nazmul Hassan has called a meeting with Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.
According to a tweet by the tourism ministry, the discussions were held to strengthen cooperation in tourism between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
Earlier this month, Minister Mausoom held discussions with the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives H.E. Sunjay Sudhir, which involved increasing Indian tourist arrivals to the Maldives and networking between Indian investors and Maldivian SMEs. In addition to that minister also discussed human resource development for the tourism sector. In August, the Maldives and India have signed an agreement to create an “Air Travel Bubble” to facilitate the movement of people between the two countries.
The Minister Mausoom has also met with the British High Commissioner to Maldives H.E. Ms. Caron Rohsler, and also Ambassador of China to the Maldives, H.E. Mr. Zhang Lizhong. Minister Mausoom discussed sustainable tourism development initiatives in Maldives and ways to further increase tourist arrivals from the UK with British High Commissioner. Furthermore, discussions with the Chinese ambassador was focused on further enhancing the cooperation in travel and tourism between Maldives and China.
The Tourism Ministry has yet to release more information on the discussions.
