The flag carrier of SriLanka, SriLankan Airlines London-Male flight reaches the Velana International Airport in Male, Maldives on 13 December.
The flight marks the recommencement of the airlines’ London Heathrow – Male’ direct service, which was carried out by the Flight UL506 aircraft with 16 passengers in Business class and 72 in Economy class.
Fawzan Fareid Country Manager of Maldives said, “We are pretty excited with this service as we have further strengthened our presence in Maldives skies. The Maldives is traditionally one of the most sought after destination among Great Britain holiday makers. This was proven through number of visitors from Great Britain arrived since Maldives opening its borders for International Holiday makers on 15th July 2020. Maldives’ One Island One Resort concept ideally suited to current context and Our direct service between Great Britain and Maldives is planned to cater the anticipated demand through Summer and Winter 2021.”
The UL505 flight will operate from Male’ to London on Saturdays and Tuesdays, along with 2 other weekly flights that will operate every Sunday and Wednesday from London to Male’.
The SriLankan Airlines’ number of weekly Service to the Velana International Airport is expected to go up to 21, including the 07 Colombo- Male’-Colombo and 01 Dubai- Male’ freighter service. Recently, the airline was awarded as the World Travel Award’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean for the 05th consecutive year, receiving Certified Passenger feedback Four-Star Major Airline 2021 Rating from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) for the 5th time at the Future Travel Experience (FTE) Virtual Expo held during the week.
