Vistara has announced the commencement of flight services between Maldives and Mumbai, India from 3 March 2021.
The airline has scheduled 3 flights a week between the destinations under the travel bubble agreement India has with the Maldives. As the Airbus A320neo aircraft will be used with three-class cabin configuration on the routes, Vistara would become the only airline that provides passengers with the choice of Premium Economy on flights between India and Maldives.
As bookings for the flights are being progressively opened on all channels, including Vistara’s website, mobile app, and through travel agents, the airline said, “Our new service to the Maldives will give travelers greater access to one of India’s most-preferred holiday destinations,” Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, was quoted in the statement. “We are delighted at the opportunity of taking India’s Best Airline to more places and offering the very best of air travel to people flying between India and the Maldives while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene.”
The previous year, an air bubble was established between India and Maldives to provide more flexible travel during the pandemic, as India remains as one of the top tourist arrival markets for the Maldives. Although tourists arriving in the Maldives are not subjected to mandatory 14-day quarantine, a negative PCR test, along with a completed Traveler Health Declaration Form, must be submitted online via IMUGA (www.imuga.immigration.gov.mv) before arrival. The negative PCR test remains valid for 96 hours, stated by the ministry of tourism in the Maldives. Tests exceeding this time period are invalid and must be retaken. Keep in mind, visitors that show signs of symptoms of COVID-19, along with individuals traveling with them, will be tested at their expense.
Vistara, is an Indian full-service airline, based in Gurgaon, with its hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The carrier, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, commenced operations on 9 January 2015 with its inaugural flight between Delhi and Mumbai.
