Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives has appointed Sarocha Pakeenuya as their Sustainability Manager & Resident Marine Biologist, effective May 2021.
Born and raised in Thailand, Sarocha has always been fascinated with marine life since a very young age. Following her passions to learn more about the ocean and it’s many mysteries, she studied Marine Biology at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and received her bachelor’s degree. After graduating, she actively volunteered and participated in researches about marine life and coral propagation. Miss Sarocha worked with the Mobula Fisheries in Bohol, The Sulu Sea Project and at the Ecological Assessment Consultancy for the local government in Philippines.
Miss Sarocha dipped her feet in to the hospitality sector in 2017 Koh Mui, Thailand, when she joined Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui as their Resident Marine Biologist. She sparked new profound interests in their guests to conserve and protect the marine environment by introducing the Coral Restoration and Conservation Project – a collaboration with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, local community members and the local government. Ever passionate about sustainable management and development in the hospitality sector, Sarocha joined Phuket Hotel Association as a Project Manager and later joined Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on a mission working towards a Low Carbon Tourism Sector in ASEAN.
