Male’, Maldives, 17th May 2022 – World number two tennis player and Australian Open finalist, Daniil Medvedev, is set to host a tennis clinic for guests staying at Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences. The very special 60-minute event, in conjunction with Lux Tennis – the operator of Amilla’s tennis activities – will take place in November 2022 at the resort’s jungle tennis court.
This special visit will take place at the end of Amilla’s Festival of Life taking place across October and November which also includes activities for the Maldives Golden year celebrations.
The 26-year-old was the first player since Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, and Murray to hold the number one ranking since 2004 after reaching the final of the Australian Open 2022. In February of this year, he was nominated for Breakthrough of the Year in the Laureus World Sports Award. Medvedev is now leading the new generation of tennis players vying to take over the ATP Tour in the upcoming years.
Medvedev has won 13 ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2021 US Open (where he defeated world number one, Novak Djokovic, in the final), and the 2020 ATP Finals, where he became the first (and only) player to defeat the top three ranked men in the world.
As well as sharing his advice and tips for guests wanting to improve their tennis, Medvedev will attend two meet and greet events. Medvedev, who is visiting the island for the first time, hopes to encourage people to enjoy playing tennis and maybe even inspire some to follow in his footsteps.
Danil commented, “I’m impatient to discover Amilla Maldives Resort for the first time, and to share my experience with the guests. Hope to see you there.”
