Male’, Maldives, 3rd April 2024 – March 2024 marked a historic achievement for the Maldives tourism industry as the archipelago welcomed over 600,000 tourist arrivals by the end of the month. Throughout March, the Maldives experienced an unprecedented surge in tourist arrivals, with daily numbers consistently ranging between 6,000 and 8,000 visitors. This steady influx of travelers reflects the growing popularity of the Maldives among tourists worldwide, drawn to its pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and luxurious resorts.

The total arrivals as of March 31st reached an impressive 604,004, signaling a remarkable rebound for the tourism sector. Compared to the previous year, which saw total arrivals of 1,878,543 in 2023, this year’s figures demonstrate a robust recovery and a return to pre-pandemic levels of tourism activity.

Notably, March 2024 witnessed the highest monthly arrivals on record, with a total of 194,227 visitors. This surge in tourist numbers highlights the enduring allure of the Maldives and its ability to attract travelers even amidst global uncertainties.

From January to March, the Maldives experienced a significant uptick in tourist arrivals, reaching a total of 604,004 visitors during this period. This represents a notable growth rate of 15.3% compared to the same period in 2023. As of March 31st, the top three markets for tourist arrivals were China, with 67,399 visitors, followed by Russia with 61,752 arrivals, and the UK with 58,382 tourists.
