Male’, Maldives, 09th July 2024 – Oaga Art Resort, a luxurious Maldivian haven celebrated for its unique blend of opulence and local art, proudly presents the second Veyoge Gallery Villa Exhibition. Curated by Suvāsthi Gallery, this year’s exhibition features over 150 stunning works by 31 Maldivian artists.
The exhibition centers around three themes: Dreams, Intimate Reflections, and Sacred Realms. Each theme is displayed across five Veyoge Gallery Pool Villas, with ten captivating pieces in each villa. These themes draw inspiration from the ancient Maldivian folktale of Khalid and Sitti, star-crossed lovers whose story embodies dreams, introspection, and a deep connection to the sacred.
“This year’s open call received an enthusiastic response, with over 40 artists applying,” shares Nadee, the curator of Suvāsthi Gallery. “Unlike our debut exhibition, this year’s submissions were focused on specifically curated themes. We’re thrilled to include many first-time exhibitors, most of whom are emerging talents under 25, showcasing incredible creativity and potential. Our goal is to feature both emerging and established artists, highlighting the vibrant energy of the next generation.”
Staying in a Veyoge Gallery Pool Villa offers a unique experience, where guests are surrounded by local artwork and can purchase pieces to take home. The resort also supports the local art scene by contributing to each artist for every artwork displayed and every night spent in a Veyoge Gallery Villa.
Suvāsthi Gallery is a platform for Maldivian artists to share their stories, inspired by the Maldives’ rich history as an ocean kingdom.
