Male’, Maldives, 22 July 2024 – JOALI BEING, the Maldives’ premier wellbeing island, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Taylor-Jayne Shearman as its new Executive Chef. Taylor brings a wealth of culinary expertise and a passion for mentorship to her new role, enriching the island’s culinary scene with her innovative and holistic approach to food.

3Born and raised in the Australian Snowy Mountains, Taylor’s culinary journey began early. Awarded as the top VET student in Australia for Hospitality, she completed her Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at TAFE Ryde. By the age of 13, she had already embarked on her professional journey.

Taylor’s career flourished when she moved to Sydney to work with the prestigious restaurant group at Mad Cow. Her exceptional talent led her to serve global celebrities and A-list actors as a Sous Chef in the Turks & Caicos islands. Achieving the role of Executive Chef at just 25, Taylor made significant strides at COMO Hotels & Resorts in the Maldives.

In 2018, Taylor joined the JOALI family, where she played a pivotal role in developing restaurant concepts during the pre-opening of JOALI Maldives. Her career was profoundly influenced by Esin Gural Argat, Vice President of Giirok Group and the visionary behind the JOALI brand. Post-pandemic, Taylor led the culinary team at LUX* North Male, which later transitioned to Jumeirah Maldives.

Returning to JOALI BEING, Taylor is eager to continue her journey with her island family. She aims to inspire and mentor the next generation of chefs, particularly focusing on nurturing local Maldivian and female talent.
