Male’, Maldives, 24 July 2024 – In a strategic move aimed at enhancing the Maldives’ global tourism appeal, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, and the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today. This partnership is set to fortify collaboration and elevate destination marketing efforts for the Maldives.
Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO & Managing Director of MMPRC, expressed enthusiasm about the new alliance, stating, “We are delighted to formalize this important collaboration with MATI. Their extensive industry knowledge and experience will undoubtedly be an invaluable asset in strengthening our destination marketing efforts. Ahmed Nazeer, Secretary General of MATI, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of their ongoing relationship with MMPRC. “We have always maintained a close working relationship with MMPRC and hope that today’s understanding will further solidify and enhance that relationship. Our goal is to bolster MMPRC’s destination marketing efforts, which are essential for increasing our destination’s brand appeal and achieving our overall performance targets.”
The MOU outlines that MATI will provide advisory support to MMPRC in the development and implementation of destination marketing strategies, campaigns, and tactics for the Maldives. Additionally, both organizations will collaborate on sharing tourism-related data, analytical findings, and insights to inform their strategies.
As the State-owned entity responsible for promoting the Maldives under the brand “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life,” MMPRC employs a comprehensive marketing approach and has established PR and trade representation in 15 key global markets. The Maldives, under MMPRC’s guidance, has garnered significant international recognition and awards, further enhancing its status as a premier travel destination.
