Male’, Maldives, 13 August 2024 – Maldives Immigration has announced a significant update for travelers: effective August 15, 2024, outbound passengers will no longer need to complete the Imuga Traveller Declaration form when departing from the Maldives. This change, initiated by the Controller General of Immigration, aims to simplify and enhance the travel experience by reducing the formalities required for leaving the country.
The removal of this requirement is expected to ease the departure process at airports, resulting in a more efficient flow of travelers. While the Imuga Traveller Declaration had already been eliminated for Maldivian citizens, both incoming and outgoing, tourists were still required to fill out the form before their departure from the Maldives.
This change is anticipated to positively impact the hospitality sector by making the departure experience more seamless for international guests, potentially boosting guest satisfaction and operational efficiency in resorts and hotels.
Hotels and resorts are advised to update their guests and staff about this new regulation to ensure a smooth transition to the updated process.
