Male’, Maldives, 03 August 2024 – The serene island of Vabou Huraa became the epicenter of surfing excitement on August 31, as the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa officially launched the highly anticipated Surfing Champions Trophy. This prestigious event, which continues until September 5, promises a week of world-class surfing action.

The opening ceremony, held at the idyllic resort, was attended by a distinguished crowd including Maldives Ministry of Tourism representatives—State Minister Honourable Dr. Abdulla Niyaz, Deputy Minister Honourable Yamin Ahmed, and Director General Aishath Ali. The event also welcomed Mohamed Arzan from the Maldives Surfing Association and key figures from the Maldives Bodyboarding Association, Hussain Nizam and Hassan Rasheed.

Didier Jardin, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, extended a warm welcome to the gathered dignitaries, competitors, and VIP guests. The highlight of the evening was Ross Phillips from Tropicsurf taking the stage to introduce the stellar lineup of surfers. Among the competitors are five-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist Carissa Moore, two-time event winner Taj Burrow, and the Maldives’ top-ranked surfer Ahmed ‘Ammaday’ Agil. Phillips’s introductions were met with enthusiasm and set the stage for an exciting competition.

The night was further elevated by the announcement of a promising swell, anticipated to deliver some of the best waves ever seen at the event. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous banquet and live music, enhancing the anticipation for the days ahead.

The Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy, running from August 31 to September 5, is expected to showcase some of the finest surfing talent and deliver thrilling performances against the backdrop of the Maldives’ stunning natural beauty.
