According to the Tourism Ministry of the Maldives, Emirates has the highest passenger numbers to the Maldives compared to the other 27 international airlines currently operating to the destination.
According to statistics provided by the Ministry, Emirates transported 16,438 passengers from 1 to 27 January, which was a total of 200 flights. During peak season, the airline operated four flights and conducts three regular flights daily between Maldives and Dubai. After Qatar Airways, Emirates was the second airline to resume operations in the Maldives after borders opened on 15 July 2020.
Qatar Airways placed second as the airline with the most passenger numbers to the Maldives, with 10,432 passengers traveling from 1 to 27 January with a total of 178 flights. Indigo follows behind in third place with 9,231 passengers conducting flights to Maldives from of the major cities in India, they are Kochi, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore. This contributes immensely to India being the second largest tourist arrival market to the Maldives.
Russia remains as the largest tourist arrival market for the Maldives, with Aeroflot transporting 8,968 passengers in January alone, through daily flights. Other airlines with high passenger numbers include Turkish Airlines, National carrier Maldivian, Fly Dubai, Azur Air Russia, Air Astana, and Lufthansa as well as Azur Air Ukraine.
