For the very first time in the history of the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Raffles Maldives Meeradhoo starts one-of-a-kind community-centric project. The Raffles Maldives Internship program is designed to focus on career development skills and build local communities’ knowledge and interest in the hospitality sector.
Raffles has been in the hospitality sector since 1887. Apart from being famous worldwide for its legendary services and luxury experiences Raffles has brought up some of the finest men and women the industry has ever seen.
The concept of the Ruffles Maldives Meradhoo Internship Program was born in 2019 but had to be put on hold due to the global pandemic. Moving into the new normal, Raffles officially launched the program on 5th November 2021 at the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Education Centre. The first batch of seven interns were handed over their letters of appointment to start their journey with Raffles Maldives Meradhoo.
By introducing this program Raffles not only just change the lives of the recruits but provides access to whole of the Maldives to learn and grow together, sharing the wholesome experience with the world and growing together to encourage a sustainable future for both the resort and the nearby communities alike.
Both parents and teachers were thrilled and appreciated to have their students and children to be part of such a prestigious project. They believe this opens opportunities to the currently graduating students with a diploma in hospitality since Tourism is a growing industry in the Maldives.
