According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 130,961 visitors graced the tropical paradise, marking a 16.9 percent increase from the 111,986 arrivals during the same period in the previous year.
This surge in September arrivals also helped propel the annual tourist influx to new heights. As of September 30, 2023, a total of 1,361,042 tourists had visited the Maldives throughout the year, up from 1,190,629 in 2022 and 870,862 in 2021.
Monthly data for the year reveals a steady influx of tourists, with January welcoming 172,499 visitors, February 177,915, March 173,514, April 164,357, May 120,959, June 120,363, July 145,629, August 154,854, and September with 130,961 visitors. While May and June experienced a slight decline, they still surpassed the significant milestone of 100,000 arrivals each.
In September 2023, the highest daily arrival figure was recorded on the 29th, with an impressive 5,727 tourists gracing the picturesque shores of the Maldives. The daily average for the month stood at 4,365, with tourists typically staying for seven to eight days.
