Male’, Maldives, 20 July 2024 – Kuramathi Maldives celebrated Shark Awareness Day with great success, engaging guests in a series of educational activities and immersive experiences designed to foster appreciation and understanding of sharks and marine conservation.
The day began with an engaging Marine Biology Presentation on Sharks at the Eco Centre from 10:00 am to 10:40 am. Attendees gained valuable insights into the crucial role sharks play in ocean ecosystems and the importance of their conservation. Following the presentation, guests eagerly joined a complimentary Shark Awareness Snorkel session on the Kuramathi House Reef, providing a unique opportunity to observe marine life up close in its natural habitat.
Simultaneously, Bageecha Kids Club hosted a variety of interactive activities for children throughout the day. The festivities kicked off with the creation of an Ocean Sharks Mural, followed by a Shark Craft session at 10:00 am. The fun continued with Shark Games and Activities at the pool area, offering entertainment while educating about shark behavior and conservation.
Highlighting the resort’s commitment to marine conservation, the event collaborated with Rasdhu Blue Tide Swimming School. On July 19th, 2024, children aged 8 to 13 years participated in a presentation on sharks, followed by a snorkelling session at Madivaru, guided by Tom, the Sustainability Manager, and Aleem, the Senior Eco Centre Coordinator.
