Male’, Maldives, 19 August 2024 – Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has unveiled plans for its much-anticipated Guesthouse Symposium, scheduled for October 10, 2024, at the Crossroads Maldives. The event is set to serve as a pivotal platform for guesthouse owners, liveaboards, suppliers, and other tourism stakeholders to connect, discuss industry challenges, and explore collaborative solutions.
During a press briefing on August 18, 2024, MIB’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Riza, highlighted the symposium’s objective to bolster the local tourism sector. “The symposium is designed to provide a space for industry professionals to come together, share their concerns, and work towards solutions that will benefit the tourism industry as a whole,” said Riza.
The symposium will feature 150 exhibition stalls, allowing participants to showcase their offerings and engage directly with fellow industry players. Riza mentioned that registration for the event would be limited to these 150 slots, with online registration opening soon.
“This event is a significant opportunity for guesthouses, liveaboards, and related businesses to forge new partnerships and enhance their operations,” Riza added. “Our goal is to promote cooperation among small and medium enterprises and support the development of the local tourism sector.”
Ahmed Waheed, Vice President of the Maldives Guesthouse Association, expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting its potential to provide valuable insights into marketing strategies and industry trends. “We encourage all guesthouse owners across the Maldives, including those in the atolls, to participate and benefit from this unique opportunity,” Waheed said.
The symposium will also include panel discussions with leading industry figures, offering participants the chance to gain expert advice and discuss key issues facing the guesthouse sector.
Partnership agreements for the symposium will be finalized in the coming weeks, underscoring MIB’s commitment to advancing the tourism industry in the Maldives.
