Male’, Maldives – 3rd March 2026 – Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has officially launched its presence at ITB Berlin 2026, held from 3–5 March at Messe Berlin, marking a significant milestone in the Maldives’ global tourism promotion as it prepares for Visit Maldives Year 2027.
This year, 67 co-exhibitors join under the Visit Maldives banner, reflecting strong industry cohesion and a unified national representation at one of the world’s most prestigious travel trade platforms. The Maldives pavilion, themed “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life,” celebrates the archipelago’s rich and varied tourism offerings—from luxurious resorts and boutique guesthouses to liveaboards, wellness retreats, family-friendly experiences, and sustainable travel initiatives.
Beyond the exhibition floor, VMC’s ITB program includes high-profile events designed to reinforce the Maldives’ global positioning. A highlight of the agenda is the return of Maldivian Night, a curated networking evening that brings together European tour operators, airline partners, travel executives, media, and key stakeholders. The event will celebrate Maldivian culture, particularly its vibrant gastronomy, offering guests authentic culinary experiences alongside opportunities for industry networking.
This year, Bank of Maldives (BML) co-hosts the evening, introducing BML Swipe, an innovative digital payment solution that aims to streamline financial transactions for visitors, further demonstrating the Maldives’ commitment to technology-driven convenience and seamless travel experiences.
In parallel, Visit Maldives will hold an international press conference, where a major strategic announcement is set to be unveiled, outlining forward-looking plans that aim to strengthen the Maldives’ competitive edge and elevate its tourism sector in the lead-up to 2027 and beyond.
“As we approach 2027, our vision is to enhance value, diversify experiences, and future-proof our tourism sector,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation. “ITB Berlin gives us a platform to share this vision directly with our most important global partners.”
Europe continues to be a cornerstone market, with Germany maintaining its position among the Maldives’ top source countries, alongside Switzerland and Austria. Visit Maldives’ targeted initiatives in these regions focus on experiential tourism, including diving, wellness, family holidays, and sustainability-driven travel.
Through expanded participation and strategic engagements at ITB Berlin 2026, Visit Maldives aims to deepen trade relationships, boost destination visibility, and reinforce the Maldives’ reputation as a premium, safe, and sustainable island destination, solidifying its status as a world-leading tourism brand.
