Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has begun an advertising campaign on the 360° TV Channel, one of the top TV channels for Moscow and the central region of Russia.

The advertisement will aid in promoting travel and to give a message to the hopeful travellers to ‘Visit Maldives Soon’.

The video ad is set to air during the channel’s prime time broadcasts, including morning and evening news, late-night show, and weekend weather reports. It will be narrated in Russian language and is set to reach more than three million people. The video will feature beautiful scenery of the Maldives and activities that can be enjoyed at the destination.

The campaign is one of the several marketing initiatives planned for this significant market. It aims to increase the Maldives brand awareness and market the destination as the most preferred destination for Russian travellers.

Thoyyib Mohamed, Managing Director of MMPRC, said. “Major campaigns for the Russian market are in the pipeline such as promoting Maldives on digital platforms. In addition, we will be closely working with top travel agents and tour operators in the coming months to promote Maldives and to boost arrivals from the Russian market. The market is expected to bounce back compared to other markets and move towards a gradual growth.”

Russia has been a traditionally strong market for the Maldives. This year began with Russian market ranking as the fourth-highest arrival market to the Maldives. It recorded an increase of Russian tourist arrivals by 29.6% compared to January of 2019. Russia currently ranks among the top 10 countries in terms of arrivals amidst the pandemic, and arrivals from the Russian market have been slowly picking up, since the reopening of the international borders of Maldives on the 15th of July 2020.
