Velana International Airport statistics reveal a steady increase in passenger traffic starting from the international border reopening on 15 July until the end of August.
The statistics show that international arrivals during the period recorded 2,890 arrivals in July and 11,186 in August. Local departures recorded 2,555 during July and 3,438 during the month of August. Air traffic movements in international travel increased from 196 in July to 432 in August. The domestic arrivals increased from 191 to 326 in August.

Velana International Airport has also received “Airport Health Accreditation” by Airport Council International (ACI). VIA is the 2nd airport in the Asia Pacific Region to receive the ACI Airport Health Accreditation. The airport continues to ensure passenger and staff safety through its consistent measures and protocols.
