The Tourism Ministry of the Maldives and Segittur engaged in discussions regarding the utilization of research and innovation in tourism development.

Segittur is a Spanish state-owned company involved in the tourism industry. Maldivian Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom met with Segittur’s President Enrique Martinez Marin and Director of Tourism Research Development and Innovation Carlos Romero Dexeus in Spain on 21 January (Thursday), in the sidelines of the 113th session of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Executive Council.

During the discussions held in the meeting, Segittur briefed Mausoom regarding Spain’s tourism development policies and the work by the company to develop tourism.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the discussion focused mostly on the ways research, communications and information technology can be utilized for tourism development.

The Tourism Minister Dr. Mausoom, meanwhile, spoke of the efforts to develop tourism in southern and northern regions of Maldives, and said Segittur is welcome to use their expertise and get involved in the project.

Segittur is a state company dedicated to promoting innovation and new technologies in tourism, supporting entrepreneurial initiatives linked to the sector, and improving Spain’s popularity among competitive tourist destinations.
