The leisure division of the flag carrier of Qatar, Qatar Airways Holidays, celebrated the Travel Bubble Holidays’ success to the Maldives.

This travel bubble is the longest-running uninterrupted safe corridor. On 20th February 2021, the passengers of the last inbound flight to Qatar received a special welcome surprise, according to Qatar Airways. In celebration of the Travel Bubble Holidays’ success, Qatar Airways Holidays presented the returning passengers with gifts as well. One lucky passenger received a QAR 5,000 voucher that can be used against any future bookings.

“We are delighted with the huge success of these holiday packages to the Maldives, which were carefully and custom-designed to offer an exclusive and safe travel experience to our passengers. The achievement of operating with no interruption the longest-running travel bubble highlights the fastidious measures and procedures we have employed to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our passengers.” said Qatar Airways Group chief executive HE Akbar al-Baker (according to Gulf Times).

The Gulf Times reported that since the launch of the safe travel corridor in November 2020, Qatar Airways Holidays operated more than 70 flights to and from the Maldives. Hence, more than 3,000 passengers enjoyed a much-needed vacation in the Maldives, without the requirements of entry permits, quarantine or self-isolation restrictions.

Travellers from across the world can visit the Maldives without any quarantine requirements. As of 21st February, the island archipelago has recorded 164,394 tourists arrivals in the year. According to the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism, 353 guesthouses, 147 resorts and 137 safari vessels are currently operational in the Maldives.

The destination targets to welcome 1.5 million tourists in for the new year 2021. Additionally, the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism forecasts that the Maldives will witness over 10 million bed nights this year as well.
