October 27th 2021 marked an important day worldwide, on this day we celebrate Sustainability day. As part of a continuous pledge to help protect THE natural environment, Royal Island All-Inclusive Premium Resort has held an island clean-up to collect plastic, debris and other waste materials from around the island. The resort colleagues came together in a team-building effort on this important day to help make a difference towards a sustainable future. The resort donates the plastic materials for recycling in partnership with Parley for the Oceans – an organization addressing major threats towards our oceans and fighting for environmental protection through recycling initiatives and global projects.
Villa Hotels & Resorts regularly hold ocean and beach clean ups, with at least one team-building clean up planned each month on the island or at the sandbank located nearby to the resort. The resort team along with guests that wish to get involved in helping will join together to remove plastic and debris from the island and surrounding lagoon.
In an effort to maintain the fragile natural environment, Royal Island All-Inclusive Premium Resort continue to work towards a sustainable future by implementing several forward-thinking initiatives including energy saving strategies, producing fresh water on the island, recycling plastic and organically growing a selection of fruits and vegetables on the fertile land to serve across the resorts restaurants. In attrition, the resort is currently in progress to achieve the Green Globe certification after months of dedication and hard work towards this important milestone.
Guests travelling to the Villa Hotels & Resorts Maldives collection of resorts are invited to contribute to the environmental sustainable initiatives and be a crucial part of the company’s sustainable future. Every guest can get involved and experience a deeper connection to the Maldives while helping on their vacation. Energy saving initiatives such as turning off the lights when not in the villa, recycling where possible and only washing linen and towels when needed will all help. There are many powerful ways to make a change and protect the natural environment and we hope to inspire our guests to do what they can to help make our planet a better place.
