The Health Protection Agency has announced new restricted covid guidelines due to the highly transmissible coronavirus variant Omicron. Guidelines were released on 26th December 2021.

The three new guidelines are listed below:

  • All travelers must present a negative PCR test taken 96 hours before the departure from the first port when traveling to the Maldives. Excluding infants below one year.
  • All travelers except tourists will be required to undergo PCR testing between three and five days from their arrival.
  • Unvaccinated locals and work permit holders will be required to complete a 14-day quarantine upon their arrival.

Following the outbreak of the Omicron variant the countries where it has begun spreading are imposing lockdown restrictions to contain it. So far Maldives had five confirmed cases of Omicron. All travelers are advised to abide by these guidelines. stay safe.
