Velana International Airport’s new VIP terminal was opened 7th January, Friday. According to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the new VIP/CIP terminal can accommodate 95 people.
The ground floor built under the presidency of former President Abdulla Yameen will be accommodating VVIP members as well as high-ranking officials. The first and second floors are set to be used for VIP and CIP lounges and the top floor will be used for administrative works. Phase one of this project covers approximately 3,200 square meters and the works for phase two for the new VIP terminal are scheduled to begin earlier this year.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid was the first person to get services from the new lounge.
