Island Aviation Services is ready to commence commercial flights to Madivaru Airport on 18th February 2022.
The development of Madivaru Airport was contracted to Kuredhu Holdings, a subsidiary of Crown and Champa company, in May 2018. While the project has reached completion, Kuredhu Holdings wished for Island Aviation to operate and manage the airport. Island Aviation Services signed the agreement with Kuredhu Holdings Private Limited, to hand over the operations at a ceremony held on 17th January 2022.
The newly built airport includes a 1,200-metre runway, a terminal. Aircraft parking area and a fire building. Maldivian is set to operate scheduled flights to Madivaru Airport next month. Island Aviation Services is currently operating 3 domestic airports, B. Dharavandhoo, Th. Thimarafushi and R. Ifuru. In addition to that IASL is operating one International Airport at N. Maafaru.
