Male’ Maldives, 23rd October 2023 – The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has officially announced the upcoming winter operations of Virgin Atlantic Airways, Cyprus Airways, and BeOnd Airlines in the Maldives.
BeOnd Airlines, known as the world’s first premium leisure airline, will be the pioneer in launching its flights. This airline, formed through a partnership between Maldivian SIMDI Company Private Limited and the UAE’s Arabesque investment firm, is set to commence its services on November 9th with its inaugural flight heading to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In quick succession, Virgin Atlantic Airlines is preparing to initiate services from London Heathrow Airport to Velana International Airport (VIA) on October 30th. The airline intends to operate thrice-weekly flights to the Maldives. Furthermore, Cyprus Airways is scheduled to commence operations on November 26th, connecting the Maldives with Cyprus.
These new additions herald an exciting era for Maldivian aviation, while the traditional carriers serving the Maldives during the winter months are expected to maintain their schedules. According to MACL projections, a total of 41 airlines will be serving the Maldives during this winter season, thanks to the introduction of these three new carriers.
