Male’ Maldives, 11th December 2023 – IMTM proudly announces Visit Maldives as the Official Destination Partner for its Sustainable Tourism Forum (STF) 2023. Visit Maldives represents the international destination branding initiative of MMPRC, a premier global tourist board.
This initiative promotes the Maldives as the world’s ultimate island destination, embracing the theme of the Maldives as ‘the Sunny Side of Life.’ Their overarching mission focuses on fostering quality and sustainable growth within the local tourism industry to ensure enduring economic, social, and cultural benefits for the nation – a vision shared by STF.
Recognized as the ‘World’s Leading Destination’ for the fourth consecutive year by the World Travel Awards, Visit Maldives stands as a testament to the brand’s value. IMTM’s collaboration aims to complement these endeavors, steering the tourism sector towards a more sustainable trajectory.
The Sustainable Tourism Forum’s theme for this year, ‘Green Investments and Innovation for Responsible Tourism: Paving the Path for a Greener Future,’ draws inspiration from the World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Day theme. It focuses on examining how tourism investments in skill enhancement, renewable energy, climate adaptation, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship can contribute to a sustainable future amid continuous global changes.
The Forum will consist of 7 sessions, three of which are dedicated to presentations from experts and practitioners, followed by panel discussions under the three thematic areas – people, planet, and prosperity.
STF 2023 engages in discussions concerning diverse interpretations of sustainable tourism within the Maldives. The forum intends to establish a set of criteria based on its findings, serving as an industry benchmark.
