This retreat serves as an opportunity for guests to delve into the world of manta rays, their habitats, and the conservation efforts led by the Manta Trust.
Crafted for travelers seeking an enriching experience, the Manta Retreat promises moments of adventure and learning. Participants will engage with the island-based Manta Trust team, gaining insights into the lives of manta rays within the resort’s lagoon. Led by Meral Hafeez, the Manta Trust base leader, the retreat focuses on encountering these majestic creatures and understanding their importance in ocean conservation.
Set amid the Maamunagau Manta Season, the retreat coincides with the presence of young manta rays in the resort’s lagoon. This location serves as a critical research site for the Manta Trust team, offering participants a chance to witness these creatures up close and support ongoing research efforts.
Scheduled from March 9th to 12th, 2024, the Manta Retreat includes snorkeling expeditions, educational workshops by the Manta Trust team, coral exploration, and the opportunity to adopt and name a manta ray. The aim is to educate and raise funds for manta ray conservation initiatives.
While indulging in the resort’s luxury amenities and accommodations, guests not partaking in the retreat can explore various activities offered. Diving enthusiasts can engage in specialized experiences observing the natural manta ray ‘spa’ at designated dive spots around the resort.
The participation fee for the Manta Retreat is USD 1490 per guest, inclusive of multiple activities and workshops.
