Male’, Maldives, 24th January 2024 – The Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, has appointed Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah, a highly regarded Maldivian entrepreneur, as the UN Tourism Special Advisor.

The official appointment ceremony took place in Madrid, Spain, on January 23, 2024. Mr. Janah expressed his gratitude to Mr. Zurab and the UNWTO for the trust placed in him, affirming his dedication to giving his best for the organization’s global initiatives. He assured that he will work diligently not only for the UNWTO but also for the betterment of his home country, the Maldives.

In addition to his role as UN Tourism Special Advisor, Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah currently serves as the principal advisor on trade and investment for President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives. He holds key positions as the President of the Maldives National Association for Construction Industry (MNACI) and the National Federation of Maldivian Employers (NFME). Recognized for his contributions, Mr. Janah was honored with the title of Faces of South Asian Tourism in 2023 by the South Asian Travel Awards.
