Male’, Maldives, 6th February 2024 – For those seeking an even deeper connection with the Maldives archipelago, the award-winning local tour company, Secret Paradise, has launched an additional two unique conservation cruises to complement their successful whale shark conservation cruise.

Guests can join a small-group snorkeling cruise for an intimate encounter with graceful manta rays, whale sharks, or sea turtles. Led by a Secret Paradise Tour Leader and a marine life expert from the Maldives Manta Conservation Program, Maldives Whale Shark Research Program, or Olive Ridley Project, participants gain awareness of marine life and the fragile Maldives environment.

These conservation-themed snorkeling cruises include activities such as data collection, identifying individual marine life, and contributing to the research work carried out by marine life organizations in the Maldives. Guests can visit a coral nursery with the local NGO Save the Beach and discover the efforts to regenerate coral reefs. They can explore the crucial role of seagrass and mangroves in fighting the climate crisis, participate in beach cleans, explore local islands, enjoy enchanting sunrises and sunsets, and create unforgettable memories. These citizen science cruises combine the breathtaking beauty of the Maldives with active contributions to marine life conservation.

The Maldives boasts a fragile ecosystem teeming with endangered marine species, and Secret Paradise has forged partnerships with local NGOs and marine organizations to actively safeguard this biodiversity. Travelers on their cruises and land-based island-hopping tours get a chance to actively participate in conservation efforts, increasing education and awareness. By joining these initiatives, visitors make a meaningful impact, leaving a positive legacy long after their departure.

Co-Founder Ruth Franklin said, ‘Our commitment to sustainability remains unwavering, and we are eager to continue our efforts in fostering meaningful connections between travelers and the remarkable ecosystems that make the Maldives a true paradise. In the coming year, we are excited to operate our new conservation cruises, strengthen existing partnerships, and further elevate the principles of responsible travel.’
