The East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (EMITT) stands as one of the largest travel trade shows in the East Mediterranean region. It offers a significant platform to promote the Maldives brand as the most preferred holiday destination in the East Mediterranean region. With improved direct connectivity with the Maldives, the potential of the market is growing day by day, reflected in the increasing arrival numbers. Participation in this event aligns with MMPRC’s strategies targeting source markets and strengthening the destination’s presence, providing numerous opportunities for industry partners to showcase their products, services, and experiences available in the Sunny Side of Life.

EMITT is attended by major tourism representatives from around the world, presenting their unique products and services to the Turkish market. During the event, the goal is to connect with different agents and buyers, disseminating information about the major segments of the destination.

The Turkish market holds immense potential for the Maldives. In 2023, it was ranked 24th as a source market with 12,856 tourist arrivals. Notably, the inaugural official visit by the President of the Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, was to Turkey, contributing to improved bilateral ties between the two nations. This signifies a pivotal moment in the bilateral relationship, with the visit laying the groundwork for a multifaceted partnership, solidified by the signing of trade-focused agreements promising shared prosperity. This includes improved flight connectivity between the two nations to further facilitate tourist arrivals from the burgeoning market.

MMPRC aims to consistently promote the Sunny Side of Life in the Turkish market. Upcoming marketing activities include campaigns with major tour operators, media press, familiarization trips, and campaigns with prominent publications.
