Male’, Maldives, 11th February 2024 – The highly anticipated Maldives Yacht Rally: Savaadheetha Dhathuru, organized by the Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC), has officially commenced with great enthusiasm, as the Honourable Minister of Tourism Mr. Ibrahim Faisal, inaugurated the rally at Kudagiri Picnic Island on February 10th, signaling the start of an extraordinary adventure.

Themed ‘Maldives: Small Country with a Big Heart’, inspired by the sentiments of participants from previous years, this year’s rally promises a truly enriching experience for all involved. The itinerary boasts captivating stops at various local islands, offering participants an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich traditions and culture of the Maldives. From V. Fulidhoo to S. Hithadhoo and S. Gan, each destination provides a unique glimpse into the beauty and diversity of the Maldivian archipelago.

The ceremony was graced by the opening remarks from Ms. Shiuna Khalid, Managing Director of Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC), setting the tone for change within the tourism industry. Her emphasis on tourism diversification and the significance of nautical tourism reflects a strategic vision aimed at broadening the horizons of tourism offerings and ensuring sustainable growth.

Ms. Fathmath Thaufeeq, Managing Director of Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), extended gratitude to His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Honorable Minister Ibrahim Faisal for their support. She expressed optimism that tomorrow’s tourist arrival would mark another significant milestone in the tourism sector.

Mr. Nishwan Abbas, Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC), proudly presented the Maldives as the quintessential sailing destination, highlighting its unparalleled beauty and allure. He emphasized the readiness of each council to extend a warm welcome to participants, ensuring a memorable experience as they explore the enchanting islands of the Maldives.

Endorsed by several ministries, including the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Ministry of Sports Fitness and Recreation, Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Ministry of Economic Development & Trade, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
