Male’, Maldives, 26th February 2024 – In a landmark event, Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives and Maldives National University (MNU) have come together in a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony hosted at the resort. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for both the tourism and education sectors, ushering in an era characterized by hands-on learning, academic inquiry, and active community involvement.

Dignitaries from both institutions, including Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef, Deputy Vice Chancellor; Ms. Zeenath Solih, Dean of FHTS; Mr. Steven Phillips, General Manager of Seaside Finolhu Maldives; Mr. Matheen Faisal, Human Resource Manager of Seaside Finolhu Maldives; Mr. Eranga Bandara, Talent Development Manager of Seaside Finolhu Maldives; and team members from both Seaside Finolhu Maldives and The Maldives National University, graced the signing ceremony.

The primary objective of the MoU is to provide employees of Seaside Finolhu with opportunities for further education and development in hospitality through academic programs offered at MNU, catering to both locals and work permit holders. This innovative initiative aims to offer convenient access to high-quality education and training, fostering skill enhancement and career development onsite. By facilitating academic programs within the resort, the Outreach Center (ORC) creates a conducive learning environment, empowering islanders to pursue continuous professional growth. This approach not only benefits individual islanders but also contributes to the overall excellence of the resort’s hospitality services, ensuring enhanced guest experiences and satisfaction.

Steven Phillips, General Manager of Seaside Finolhu, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with Maldives National University signifies our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in hospitality. We are excited to provide our team/islanders with avenues for continuous learning and development.”
