Male’, Maldives, 13th March 2024 – Surf enthusiasts, mark your calendars! Niyama Private Islands Maldives is gearing up to welcome two renowned figures in the surfing world – Wave-Ki founder and instructor Brad Gerlach and talented surf photographer Junior Garcia. As the peak surf season approaches, guests are in for a treat with these surfing legends taking up residence at the luxurious resort.

Niyama Private Islands Maldives stands as the ultimate surf destination, where guests can either bring their own boards or get fully outfitted at the Rip Curl boutique. Specially outfitted surf villas await, providing the perfect base for surf enthusiasts to catch some waves, including the powerful and sometimes hollow Vodi wave that breaks right on shore. After a thrilling surf session, guests can unwind at the Surf Shack with rum and reggae vibes or head to Drift Spa for a relaxing recovery massage and sunburn-soothing aloe vera wrap.

In residence from March 10 to April 20, Brad Gerlach will offer his revolutionary coaching method. As the world’s #2 in 1991 and the founder of Wave-Ki, Brad brings a unique land-based approach to perfecting surf skills, favored by pros like Parker Coffin. With a focus on slow, precise movements akin to martial arts, Brad’s coaching creates kinaesthetic motor memory for improved surfing once in the water.

Capturing the action mid-wave will be surf photographer Junior Garcia, in residence from March 8 to September 30. Originally from Brazil and now based in Bali, Junior has dedicated his life to chasing the ultimate wave and capturing stunning surf shots.

Nathan Kemp, Surf Development Director at Niyama, expresses excitement about Brad and Junior’s return, highlighting their unrivaled talents against the backdrop of the incomparable Maldivian scenery. While surfing can be enjoyed year-round in the Maldives, peak season runs from March to November.

Brad Gerlach offers private or family coaching sessions, starting with land sessions at USD 249, followed by in-water coaching at USD 447. Group land sessions are also available at USD 74. Guests can opt for packages including a year’s access to Wave-Ki online, with video lessons, live sessions, Q&As, and the option of one-on-one virtual coaching. Sessions with Junior start at USD 249 per hour or USD 489 for a week.
