Male’, Maldives, 24th April 2024 – Diamonds Thudufushi and Athuruga resorts, nestled amidst the tranquil beauty of the Ari Atoll, marked Earth Day on April 22, 2024, with a range of impactful endeavors aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental awareness. Collaborating with both their esteemed guests and dedicated team members, they embarked on a collective mission to safeguard the Earth’s precious resources.

The Earth Day festivities commenced with a soul-enriching “Greet the Earth” morning yoga session, extending an invitation to guests to connect with nature and cultivate positive intentions for the day ahead.

Following the yoga session, a unified effort was made to plant trees across the island. Hand in hand, guests and team members planted saplings, symbolizing their shared commitment to nurturing the Maldives’ biodiversity. Each tree stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to sustainable practices and the preservation of their island home.

In alignment with their pledge to the planet, a thorough cleanup of the deserted Emboodhoo Island was conducted, accompanied by the resorts’ in-house marine biologists.

The Earth Day festivities reached a poignant conclusion with a mesmerizing movie night under the stars. Set against the backdrop of the Maldives’ natural splendor, guests reveled in the enchantment of cinema, serving as a poignant reminder of the breathtaking beauty they strive to conserve and safeguard.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, the General Manager of Diamonds Resorts Maldives emphasized the profound impact of tree planting, stating, “One of the most rewarding things one could do is to plant a tree, we should do it more often. It is the promise of life, not only for the tree, but for all life that surrounds it.

The Earth Day celebrations at Diamonds Thudufushi and Athuruga signify their steadfast commitment to sustainability. Through their eco-conscious practices, coral restoration projects, and community initiatives, they continue to set a precedent for a greener, more sustainable future for the Maldives and beyond.
