Male’, Maldives, 3rd June 2024 – Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, nestled in the serene Raa Atoll, has unveiled its latest endeavor in collaboration with Giving Bag. This innovative partnership aims to merge sustainability efforts with community support by offering guests an opportunity to contribute to local orphanages while reducing waste.

The premise of Giving Bag is straightforward yet impactful. Each guestroom at Alila Kothaifaru will feature a designated bag where visitors can deposit unwanted clothes or snorkelling equipment. These items will then be collected by the resort’s green team, cleaned, and delivered to the Kuda Kudhinge Hiya orphanage. This initiative not only aids those in need but also promotes sustainable practices by extending the lifespan of clothing and curbing textile waste.

In a recent meeting with the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the resort’s green team discussed collaborative initiatives. Deputy Minister HE Aminath Namza emphasized the importance of fostering compassion and love in society, highlighting new programs such as adoption and internships for orphans. She stressed the significance of collaboration in creating a society where everyone can thrive.

Thomas Weber, General Manager of Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, expressed the resort’s commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and the local community. He stated that the partnership with Giving Bag perfectly aligns with their sustainability goals by promoting reuse and waste reduction. Additionally, he expressed enthusiasm for supporting the Kuda Kudhinge Hiya orphanage and contributing to the well-being of children in the community.

The Kuda Kudhinge Hiya orphanage, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to providing shelter, education, and support to orphaned and underprivileged children in the Maldives. Through partnerships with local businesses like Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, the orphanage aims to create a nurturing environment for children to thrive and reach their potential.

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives’s collaboration with the Giving Bag initiative underscores the resort’s commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and responsible tourism practices.
