Male’, Maldives, 25th June 2024 – The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands has announced an exciting partnership with renowned climate activist and founder of Justice Environment, Saad Amer, marking a significant step in the resort’s sustainability journey. Amer, known for his expertise in environmental justice and role as a United Nations consultant, will serve as the resort’s latest Sustainability Champion.
In his new role, Amer will lead an array of guest activities and educational programs aimed at promoting climate action and environmental stewardship. His visit, scheduled from July 4th to 11th, will feature a series of engaging presentations and interactive experiences designed to foster a deeper connection with nature among guests and the local community.

The highlight of Amer’s visit will be “Saad’s Climate School: A Thought Experiment on How to Save the Planet,” taking place from July 7th to 9th. This unique event will blend meditative reflections on our place on Earth with discussions on global environmental challenges, aiming to shift perspectives and equip participants with practical knowledge and skills. The experience will also feature insights from the Marriott Sustainability Community, including a Marriott Marine Biologist.
Amer’s engagement with the local community extends beyond the resort. He will visit nearby schools to deliver customized presentations, inspiring the next generation to adopt sustainable practices. Additionally, he will participate in a lunch with Marine Biology students from the Maldives National University and Environmental Management students from Villa College, fostering meaningful discussions on critical environmental issues.
During his stay, resort guests can look forward to a sustainability-inspired afternoon tea, a cocktail hour, and a special Ritz Kids activity where young guests will learn about climate change through fun, interactive workshops.
