Vistara airline commences direct flight services between Mumbai and Maldives

Indian Vistara Airline has commenced direct flights from Mumbai, India to Velana International Airport (VIA).

According to a tweet by VIA, the inaugural flight, Vistara Airbus A320neo aircraft landed at 12:25hours with 164 passengers. The airline has schedules three flights per week on the route under India’s Air travel bubble agreement. The first flight of Vistara Airline was welcomed by a water salute organized from the Fire and Rescue Services of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

The Velana International Airport has maintained its high standard measures assuring passenger and staff safety throughout the world pandemic. As a result, on September 2020 VIA was awarded the ACI Health Accreditation certificate as the 2nd Airport from Asia Pacific and on January 2021 VIA received the ACI Voice of the customer recognition award.

Vistara is a joint venture of Tata Sons Private Limited and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA), registered as TATA SIA Airlines Limited.
