The first local surf magazine ‘Dhevi Hifaafa’ has released its first issue. The name of the magazines in the local Dhivehi language translates to ‘addition’, representing the passion and desire that flows through Maldivian surfers.

The Magazine was launched by Mr.Thoyyib Mohamed, Managing director of Public Relations Cooperation (MMPRC), at a ceremony held at the Head Office of MMPRC.

The ‘Dhevi Hifaafa’ magazine aims to document and archive the long and rich history of surfing in the Maldives, providing opportunities to nurture journalism, photography, videography, and other surf-related activities. It has pledged to work in creating a hub and dialogue for environmental awareness as well as supporting local brands by promoting their endeavors.

The Magazine was founded by local surfers, Nahshal Nasir and Amir Amin Didi.  They have brought their different experiences together to explore and deliver news about surfing in the Maldives through various mediums.

Dhevi Hifaafa is an annual publication that is available for free via their website, ​www.dhevihifaafa.com. Starting next week printed publications will be available at selected outlets across Male’.
