Air travel between China and the Maldives is to resume from November onwards.

A flight schedule released by Velana International Airport for winter, states that on November 29, China Southern Airlines has scheduled a flight to the Maldives, connecting male and Guangzhou. This is to be the first flight from china after nine months.

Furthermore, Beijing Capital Airlines will operate from Male’ and Beijing in December.nThese flight operations are part of the 31 international airlines that will operate to the Maldives in winter, along with many other airlines, according to the flight schedule.

Chinese Market has been one of the leading tourist source markets to the Maldives in recent years. The Maldives is already experiencing a steady recovery in tourism since borders reopened on 15 July, with a surge in arrivals from multiple countries including Russia, Italy, Spain, and Brazil.

All travelers are welcome into the Maldives, provided they have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken a maximum of 96 hours before departure from their original destination, as a basic requirement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
