The Maldives has been nominated for the World’s Leading Destination in the World Travel Awards 2020. 

The Maldives has become a common household name across the world for its unmatched natural beauty of crystal clear sea, pure white sand beaches, and lush green coconut groves. It is known as one of the most well-known tourist destinations, attracting travelers from all over the globe, including numerous VIPs seeking a private getaway, the Maldives possess a vast array of high class, luxury resorts and villas befitting for all, including the family vacationers with little youngsters and newly-weds seeking a relaxing honeymoon experience.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Its annual program is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive in the global industry. Each year the World Travel Award covers the globe with its Grand Tour – a series of regional gala ceremonies to recognize excellence within each continent, culminating in a Grand Final at the end of the year.

In 2020, the World Travel Awards celebrate its 27th anniversary year, featuring regional gala ceremonies in the Caribbean (Bahamas), Europe (Antalya, Turkey), Africa & Indian Ocean (Nairobi, Kenya), Latin America (Santiago, Chile), North America (Thompson Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada), Asia & Oceania (Seoul, South Korea) and Middle East (Dubai). Regional winners then compete for head to head in the corresponding world categories. The winners will be announced on the night of the World Travel Awards Grand Final in Moscow, Russia.

Voting for the Awards is now open and is to run until midnight on 25 October 2020, allowing fans to make sure that their best-loved wins. Votes can be cast via www.worldtravelawards.com//vote-for-maldives
