IMTM, News|

A webinar on Fostering Rural Tourism Approaches in the Maldives, Malaysia, China, and Bhutan, is set to be held at the IMTM 2020 virtual fair, on 17 November 2020, from 13:00 to 14:30 (GMT).

Fostering Rural Tourism Development in the Maldives, the webinar will be moderated by Mr. Xu Jing, Advisor on Asia tourism and Former Director for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The webinar will focus on the worldwide movement of rural development in a country through tourism in 2020. Focusing on how the government of the Maldives, along with other public-owned parties, aims to boost the local community through the ongoing success in Maldives’ tourism, IMTM strives to use this webinar as an opportunity for all the respective countries to exchange knowledge and views between experts in the field of rural tourism development. This is especially expected to allow guest houses in the Maldives the chance to grow and increase competitiveness in the market.

The session will be held within the framework of the 3rd edition of the International Maldives Travel Market, which is on the 16 and 17 of November 2020. The fair will take place on the IMTMair, virtual platform, which will continue to operate after the event, allowing participants the chance to keep interacting with their interested parties. The virtual event has been kindly endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM), Maldives Association of Travel Agent and Tour Operators (MATATO), and Association of Travel Agents (ATA).

The webinar is open to all participants of IMTM 2020, especially resorts, hotels, liveaboards and guesthouses, support businesses, government authorities, and associations, as well as individuals. The live session will be broadcasted on all social media platforms of IMTM for viewers as well.
