On 28th December Tuesday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited K. Maafushi to hand over the newly reclaimed area and picnic island to the Maafushi Island Council. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was accompanied on his journey by government officials and cabinet members.

During the ceremony, the picnic island was handed over to the island council as well as the new football stadium developed on the island. He further met with island council members and members of women empowerment committee. He later attended meetings with Maafushi Health Center and visited the prison.

Maafushi is a beautiful island in the Maldives with a total population of just over 2,000 people. Tourism drives the local economy, with over 50 guesthouses in the region. The area is world-renowned for its sandy white beaches, blue ocean, and alluring coral reefs.
