Male’ Maldives, 5th December 2023 – The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, is making a prominent display of the Maldives’ luxurious offerings at the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Cannes 2023. The event, hosted at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès from December 4th to 7th, commenced with the Global Forum on the first day, providing insights into the current state of the luxury travel industry through engaging presentations.

Eight esteemed companies representing various facets of the Maldives’ luxury tourism industry are participating in ILTM Cannes 2023. These companies, including Amilla Fushi, Bliss Maldives, Cora Cora Maldives, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa Fasmendhoo, Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, Robinson Club Maldives, Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, and Universal Resorts, are showcasing their unique luxury offerings to key markets.

Recognized as one of the premier luxury trade fairs globally, ILTM Cannes 2023 serves as a vital platform for conducting in-person business meetings with luxury buyers from major source markets, including France, the United States, the UK, Germany, and Italy. The Maldives, renowned as the ultimate luxury destination, is strategically leveraging its participation to target the affluent segments and solidify its position as a premium destination in key markets.

The Maldives’ presence at ILTM Cannes 2023 is a reflection of its commitment to showcasing exceptional products, services, and experiences. The destination’s stand at the event presents a visual narrative of luxury tourism, featuring images of luxury resorts, liveaboards, unique experiences, and the distinctive geography that defines the Sunny Side of Life. Through one-on-one meetings, luxury buyers at the event are connected with industry partners, facilitating the dissemination of information on the luxury segment of the destination.

As of November 29, 2023, the top 10 markets for the Maldives include Russia, India, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the United States, France, Spain, and Switzerland. Notably, the Maldives has recorded a 9.41% increase in tourist arrivals compared to 2022, with 1,678,639 tourists visiting the destination.

MMPRC’s proactive marketing strategies have played a pivotal role in maintaining the Maldives as a top-of-the-mind luxury destination worldwide. By November 23, 2023, the corporation had successfully executed 348 marketing activities. The efforts are aligned with the goal of consistently promoting the Maldives and ensuring its enduring status as a premier luxury destination.

The Maldives achieved notable recognition at the World Travel Awards, securing the title of World’s Leading Destination for the fourth consecutive year. MMPRC, the driving force behind promoting the destination, clinched the World’s Leading Tourist Board for the second consecutive year. Additionally, the Maldives received the newly-introduced Global Tourism Resilience Award, acknowledging its strategic capacity to recover swiftly and thrive after disruptions. These accolades underscore the exceptional standing of the Maldives in the global tourism landscape and the enduring allure of the Sunny Side of Life to travelers worldwide.
