Male’ Maldives, 14th December 2023 – A lineup of skydiving VIPs, featuring renowned Red Bull aerial athlete Fred Fugen and the holder of multiple world records, David Nimmo, have taken flight above Ifuru Island in the Maldives. This marks the launch of the destination’s inaugural permanent skydiving dropzone, facilitated by the collaboration between the recently opened all-inclusive resort, equipped with its airport, and World Champion skydiver Will Penny, along with Skydive Maldives.

The skydiving dropzone, providing an exhilarating perspective of the Indian Ocean, was officially inaugurated with a series of daring stunts by a stellar cast of skydiving champions and aerial athletes. Fred Fugen, known for his Red Bull stunts, showcased thrilling wingsuit maneuvers alongside his wife Laurence Fugen. Australian skydiver Richard Pym set records by flying both a 300m2 Maldivian flag and a 300m2 Ifuru Island flag during captivating jumps.

Throughout the launch week, elite athletes, including five-time world champion Raph Coudray, multiple world-record holders David Nimmo and Luis Lopez-Mendez, and Spanish national champion Dani Gallego, executed synchronized stunts and individual jumps, sometimes up to 100 times a day. Notable Nepali mountaineer Nimsdai Purja MBE, featured in the Netflix documentary “14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible,” also joined the skydiving adventure.

Expressing excitement about the permanent skydiving dropzone, World Champion freestyle skydiver and Skydive Maldives Manager Will Penny highlighted the extensive efforts in preparation and the exceptional team and infrastructure in place. Safety briefings and harnessing to experienced instructors enable guests to experience free fall, a canopy ride, and a safe landing within 20 minutes, followed by the opportunity to enjoy the resort amenities.

David Lince, a Skydive Maldives Instructor, emphasized the joy of bringing happiness to new heights through skydiving, crediting the incredible location and team with enhancing the experience. Skydiving is available between November and March, allowing guests to enjoy breathtaking jumps over the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

For thrill-seekers staying seven nights or more, the first jump is complimentary, with additional skydiving experiences available at a special launch price of USD 550++. Guests can ascend to the skies, leap into the blue, and witness the panoramic beauty of the Maldives, encompassing the Indian Ocean, island gems, and vibrant reefs.
