Male’, Maldives, 31st December 2023 – Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is preparing to introduce a pioneering initiative called “The Silent Airport,” aimed at transforming the travel experience for passengers from January 1st, 2024, to March 31st, 2024. This innovative concept seeks to cultivate a serene and peaceful atmosphere by significantly reducing non-essential announcements across both terminals.

The initiative’s primary focus is on minimizing unnecessary auditory disruptions for travelers, particularly by cutting back on non-essential public announcements, especially those related to boarding schedules. This measure is designed to create a more tranquil ambiance, enabling passengers to enjoy a quieter and calmer airport environment during their journey.

Despite the reduction in overhead announcements, airport authorities emphasize that crucial emergency-related information essential for passenger safety and well-being will continue to be disseminated through the Public Address (PA) systems. This ensures that essential updates and critical notifications are upheld, maintaining the highest standards of passenger security and comfort.

To efficiently communicate essential travel-related information, the airport will leverage advanced digital technology by strategically installing screens throughout the terminals. These digital displays will relay pivotal updates, including boarding schedules and important announcements, ensuring passengers remain informed throughout their time at the airport.

Furthermore, passengers will receive imperative updates directly on their registered mobile numbers, enhancing convenience and accessibility to pertinent information such as gate changes or flight delays.

As the initiative prepares for its launch in the forthcoming year, anticipation and excitement are brewing among passengers eager to experience this novel approach to air travel. It offers a tranquil respite amidst the bustling nature of modern airports, promising a more serene journey from check-in to boarding.
