Male’, Maldives, 18th January 2024 – Niyama Private Islands Maldives has appointed Mr. Laurent Dreyer, a Swiss national with two decades of experience in luxury hospitality, as the new Resort Manager.
Trained as an economist, Laurent’s entry into the hospitality realm began serendipitously. While employed by Swiss brands Cartier and later Evian, Laurent visited the Maldives in 2004 to pursue his diving passion. This visit resulted in a job offer at One & Only Kanuhura, one of the Maldives’ most celebrated resorts, marking the inception of his new career. Since then, Laurent has contributed his expertise to some of the island nation’s most opulent properties, including COMO Cocoa Island, the avant-garde Huvafen Fushi, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas (where he was part of the pre-opening team), and the wellness retreat Velaa Private Island.
In 2021, Laurent undertook his inaugural role as Resort Manager at the renowned Maafushivaru Resort Maldives. There, he oversaw a staff of nearly 300, managing 81 villas. In all his roles, Laurent brings a bold entrepreneurial spirit, a keen eye for detail, and an innate understanding of true luxury – attributes that make him an ideal fit for Niyama.
