Germany’s largest airline, Lufthansa, is to resume flights to the Maldives from 28 October 2020.
The flights are to operate from Frankfurt, Germany to Velana Airport in the Maldives, two flights a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Lufthansa, already the largest airline in Germany, is the second most substantial airline in Europe in terms of passengers carried when combined with its subsidiaries. The Lufthansa Group is an aviation group with operations worldwide. With 135,353 employees, the company has generated revenue of EUR 36,424m in the financial year 2019.
The Lufthansa Group is composed of the segments Network Airlines, Eurowings, and Aviation Services. Aviation Services comprises the segments Logistics, MRO, Catering, and Additional Businesses and Group Functions. The latter also includes Lufthansa AirPlus, Lufthansa Aviation Training, and the IT companies. All segments occupy leading positions in their respective markets.
The Maldives has been welcoming tourists from around the world since the reopening of its International borders in July. The island nation issues 30 day free onarrival visa to all the visitors.
Prior to entry into the Maldives, tourists must provide a negative COVID test. The validity of the tests is now extended to 96 hours. The PCR test must include relevant details such as the name and address of the laboratory that performed the testing, the result of the test, the date of testing as well as name and signature of the issuing officer. It must be submitted to Maldives Immigration via its IMUGA platform (imuga.immigration.gov.mv) when filling out the Traveler Health Declaration.
